Let’s talk about Road Bike
Road bike, the name speaks for itself. It is born for road riding (or smooth surface), also it is specialized for riding in a high speed. Its curved-shape dropped handlebars are designed for a lower position of the cyclist to reduce air resistant. Large wheels and skinny tires are great in reducing surface friction. And light V-brake is commonly used for Road bike. The bike itself is usually light in weight, suitable for a wide variety of riding situations i.e., recreation, long-distance racing, time trial, etc. It’s not suitable for rough terrain as it has durability less than mountain bike.
Let’s talk about Mountain Bike
Mountain bike or MTB also gets its name from the terrain it is designed to be used on; mountain, mud, rough terrain, i.e., rock, tree roots, etc. It is designed for off-road riding, having some kind of suspension. Its wheels are larger and heavier than road bike’s. Its tires also larger. With shock absorber in front wheel and also in rear wheel in some cases, such as full-suspension mountain bikes. You can choose your brake systems as you like; V-brake, Disc brake. Though, disc brake is recommended for hardcore off-road bikers because it can perform efficiently even in muddy conditions.
